Besan Methi Paratha

Today's recipe is something similar to that of Methi Thepla.  Thepla is made of wheat flour as main ingredient. But in my today's recipe I am taking besan / gram flour as main ingredient and adding very little wheat flour for binding. I will also be adding little kasuri methi along with freshly chopped methi leaves. Kasuri methi gives very nice flavor to any dish it is added.

This recipe goes to day 2 of Blogging Marathon 108 under the theme " A to Z series " of Indian Flat breads. Click here to see the recipe of A -- Ajwain paratha. Lets check put the list of ingredients and procedure for B -- Besan Methi Paratha.

Ingredients:

Besan / Gram flour 1 cup
Wheat flour 1 tbsp
Chopped fresh fenugreek leaves 1/4 cup
Kasuri methi 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Chili flakes 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Butter / Ghee

Preparation:

In a mixing bowl add gram flour and wheat flour.
Also add turmeric powder, salt, chili flakes, cumin seeds and kasuri methi.
Mix and add freshly chopped fenu greek leaves and oil.
Mix everything well, add little water at a time to make a semi soft dough, just like chapati dough.
Cover and set aside for 10 minutes.
Now divide the dough into 3 or 4 equal portions.
Dust with dry wheat flour and roll it to make thin paratha.
Heat tawa and cook the paratha on both the sides adding little butter or ghee on top.
Serve hot as it is or with any pickle and curd.

I love methi thepla, using besan instead of wheat flour is really interesting. Will have to try it soon.

Well done. I am marveling at the fact that you could roll thin rotis with besan.
