Onion Pakoda ~ Indian Street Food

India is undoubtedly heaven when it comes to street food. Every state, every city and every small or

 big town  has its own specialty when it come to street  food. There are variety of flavorful and

 delicious street food. One such simple yet delicious dish is Onion Pakoda. This is one dish which is

 not particularly special to one place, it is made all over India but in their own way or style. It is

 called differently in different places like  Onion pakoda, kanda bhajiya, onion fritters, ullipaya

 pakodi or pyaz ke pakode. How ever the preparation is the end produce is  crispy and tasty. My 

 family loves to have these pakoda with some hot tea, how about you? Try out this simple recipe and

Onions 2 large

Gram flour 1 cup

Corn flour  1 tbsp

Chopped cilantro 1/2 cup

Chopped green chili 2 tsp

Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp

Chili powder 2 tbsp

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Carom seeds 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves 15-20 

Oil for deep frying


Peal the skin of onions and cut them to thin long slices.

Add them to mixing bowl along with chopped green chili and cilantro.

Also add ginger garlic paste, carom seeds, chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.

Mix everything well, set aside for 10 mins.

Now add gram flour and corn flour.

Sprinkle very little water if required  and mix everything well so that flours are nicely coated to the

 onion slices. 

Heat oil in deep frying pan. 

Drop a small amount of onion mixture in oil, fry till the pakodas turn nice and crisp.

Remove and place them on paper towel to remove excess oil.

This looks and sounds amazing! Who can say no to this. A cup of chai along with this is the best evening snack! My family loves this pakora.
