Tomato Charu/ Rasam

Rasam/ saaru /charu is a South Indian soup. Traditional preparation involves tamarind juice as base in addition to tomato, chili powder, pepper and cumin and other spices as seasonings.
It is eaten with rice or separately as soup.
There are different kinds of rasam, varying by ingredient and region. Today I made the regular tomato rasam/ charu. This a the must and should dish for our daily meal. Here goes the recipe......

We need:

Ripe tomato 1 large
Tamrind tiny ball size
Chilli powder 1/4 sp
Cumin powder 1/2 sp
Garlic 1clove
Cilantro chopped 1/2 cup
Haldi pinch
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds 1/4 sp
Udad dal 1/4 sp
Cumin seeds 1/4 sp
Curry leaves 4
Dry red chilli 1
Oil 2sps
Water 4 cups

Method:

Take a pan and add chopped tomato , tamrind, salt, haldi, cumin powder, chopped garlic, chilli powder, chopped cilantro and mash all the ingredients with ur hands.
Now add 4 cups water and switch on the stove.
Boil till bubbles appear and switch off the flame.
In a small pan heat oil to make tempering.
Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chilli, udad dal and curry leaves.
Add this tempering to charu and serve hot with rice.
It can be served as it is also like soup.
