Palak Pakoda / Spinach Pakoda

Street food is popular all over the world, it could be in India, USA or any other country. But nothing 

 can beat the variety of street food India has be it pani puri, chole batura, samosa, pakoda, chaat, 

 bajia and  what not. Today I will be posting about a crispy and yummy palak pakoda, which is

 rarely found at the  street vendors. It is so simple yet delicious pakoda, perfect for any party or as a

 evening snack with a cup of chai.

This recipe goes to week 4 day 3 of Blogging Marathon 121 under the theme " Street Food Special ".




Ingredients:


Palak / Spinach 2 cups

Onion sliced 1 cup

Besan / Gram flour 1 cup

Rice flour 2 tbsp

Carom seeds 1/2 tsp crushed

Green chili chopped 1 tsp

Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp

Chili powder 1/2 tsp

Chaat Masala 

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying




Preparation:


Wash and chop spinach into small pieces.

In a mixing bowl add chopped spinach, sliced onion and chopped green chili.

Now add the spices turmeric powder, chili powder, crushed carom seeds and salt.

Give everything a quick mix then add gram flour  and rice flour.

Mix it again, add very little water to blend everything to make a thick dough.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan, drop a small lemon size spinach dough into oil.

Add few at a time, fry till nice and crisp.

Remove and  sprinkle some chaat masala on top and serve.

Palak pakoda is a nutritious and healthy pakoda. Best way to make kids eat greens. Looks so crunchy and delicious.
