Green Moong Dal

Green Moong dal is a high in protein and  fiber which is easy to digest and keep our tummy full for longer time. Todays dish is a healthy yet delicious gravy sidedish with moong dal. It goes very well with roti, naan, parthas and even with rice. I have made it a gravy consistancy today, but if you want you  can cook little longer to evaporate the liquid in curry to make it dry.

This recipe goes to week 2 of BM 147 under the theme " Gravy Sidedish for Flatbread".

Ingredients:

Green moong 1 cup
Onion 1 medium chopped
Tomato 1 large chopped
Green chili 2 slit
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Curry leaves 6
Garam masala 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Chili power 1/2 tsp
Amchur powder 1/2 tsp
Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup
Red chili 1
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil 2 tbsp

Preparation:

Wash green moong dal 2-3 times and soak in water about 15 mins.
Meanwhile heat oil in a presser cooker, add cumin seeds, red chili  and mustard seeds.
Once the mustard seeds splutter add chopped onions, curry leaves and green chili.
Saute until onions turn light pink, now add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell disappers.
Now add chopped tomato and all the dry masalas.
Mix and cook till tomatoes turn soft.
Now add soaked green moong and 1 cup water.
Mix, close the lid and presser cook for 3 whistles.
Let the presser release naturally before you open the lid.
Adjust salt at this point of time, add cilantro mix and serve.
