Onion Uttapam

Uttapam is a South Indian tiffin / breakfast dish prepared with either idly batter or dosa batter.

Uttapam are made little thick like a pancake and topped with any veggies of your choice. Most

popular Uttapam are onion, tomato and carrot. You can all of them together as well. It is typically

 served with chutney and sambar.

Today I will be posting a recipe of Onion Uttapam, this recipe goes to week 2 day 2 of Blogging

Marathon 124 under the theme " Brighten Your Breakfast ".

Ingredients:

Idly batter 3 cups

Chopped onions 1/4 cup

Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup

Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp

Green chili chopped ( optional )

Preparation:

Heat a non stick tawa or dosa pan, add a ladle full of dosa batter in the center of the pan and spread

 it in circular motion.

Do not  make the dosa too thin, it will taste better when it is thick.

Add some oil or ghee at the edges of the dosa.

Sprinkle some chopped onions, cilantro, cumin seeds and green chili.

Cover and cook for 30-40 minutes on medium heat.

Flip and cook on the  other side for a minute on low flame.

Transfer to plate and serve hot with any chutney and sambar.
